Image
My Dear People of Yagba West, Leadership is not about occupying an office. Leadership is about service, accessibility, sacrifice, and the ability to make a difference in the lives of ordinary people. For decades, I have lived among you, worked with you, invested in our communities, and shared in both our challenges and aspirations. My commitment to Yagba West did not begin with politics, and it will not end with politics. Today, I present to you a covenant built on practical solutions, people-centered representation, and a clear vision for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Yagba West. This is not merely a campaign promise. It is a commitment to serve. 1. Security and Community Protection No society can develop where insecurity thrives. I will champion legislative support and strategic partnerships that strengthen community security initiatives, support local vigilantes and hunters, and improve the protection of our farms, forests, and communities. Every farmer, trader,...

THE MAESTRO OF THE SAVANNAH Professor Jimo Akolo, MFR (1935–2023)Three Years of Remembrance — The Brush Still Speaks

Image
Three years ago, silence visited the earthly home of a man whose life had long ceased to belong merely to himself. Yet history refused to mourn him in silence. For ordinary men pass away and memory slowly retreats. But there are rare souls whose departure enlarges their presence. Professor Jimo Bola Akolo, MFR, belonged to that sacred league of men. Today, we do not merely remember his passing. We celebrate the triumph of a life that transformed talent into legacy, culture into civilization, and creativity into immortality. Professor Jimo Akolo was not merely an artist. He was a movement clothed in humility. A silent titan who redrew the boundaries of African modernism and carried the dignity of his homeland into the galleries of the world. Long before his name echoed through prestigious art institutions and international exhibitions, he was first a son of Egbe. The earth of Yagba raised him. The spirit of Okunland shaped him. And Kogi State proudly presented him...

The development comes weeks after Temidayo John Tunde voluntarily withdrew from the Assembly race following consultations with leaders, mentors, and stakeholders — a decision he had described as one rooted in responsibility, unity, and political maturity. Addressing the reason behind his endorsement, Temidayo maintained that withdrawing from a contest does not translate to withdrawing from the struggle for community progress. According to...

Kogi APC Primaries Under Fire as Party Members Allege Disenfranchisement Ahead of Exercise.

Image
Tension is rising within the Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress following growing complaints from party members over the conduct of the forthcoming primaries. Several loyal APC members across different wards in the state have raised concerns over what they described as an attempt to silence the grassroots and limit participation in the delegate selection process. According to party faithful, wards with membership strength ranging from hundreds to over one thousand people are allegedly being reduced to a few selected officials expected to determine the outcome of the primaries. There are also allegations that membership cards are being seized, while only “approved” loyalists are being allowed to participate in the process. The development has sparked criticism among stakeholders who insist that the APC was founded on principles of internal democracy, fairness, and inclusiveness. Party members argued that while political alignments and preferred candidates ar...

The greatest Artist you Never knew came from Kogi state.

Image
There is a specific kind of gravity that comes with a name like Professor Jimo Akolo. For some of us, he is the legendary "Zaria Rebel" who, alongside a small group of visionaries, fundamentally rewrote the rules of African Art in the 1950s. For others, he is a son of Egbe the man who took our stories to global biennials in Brazil and galleries in London, only to bring that brilliance right back home. He belongs to that rare pantheon of Kogi excellence alongside icons like Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye, proving to the world that the soil of the Confluence State breeds a unique kind of creative genius. His journey is a map of what is possible when talent meets discipline. Long before Nigeria even gained its independence, while Akolo was just a secondary school boy at Keffi, his talent was so massive that it couldn't be contained within our borders. In 1956, his work traveled across the Atlantic to be exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Imagin...

A Shenanigan "Charade" Coined Mopamuro Rally- _Yagba Facts_

Image
It is clear that Leke Abejide's 3rd term hallucination has suffered an irreparable set back as displayed by their panicky charade on Mopamuro land. The pictures taken and made public were all CLOSE SHOTS, no LONG SHOT talk more of EXTREME LONG SHOT, which would have revealed their cooked-lies which would expose them to the larger members of the public and most likely go ahead to debase the justification of the expended funds taken from their pay master. Professionally, a Commissioner of Information and Communication should know better, than not to ask that the right shots be taken to interpret an event, and unfortunately the same suppose shambolic show had no video to show the AI-1,000 match! It is not sad though, in today's Nigerian politics, in APC in particular where there are no primaries and LG elections, JUDAS Is now replicated and _judasis_ abounds everywhere, so seeing Mopamuro sons and daughters or acclaimed sons and daughters, running errand is not new, in...
